Voncile Brown-Miller: HealthLink Specialist

Voncile Brown-Miller is currently a program specialist with the Witness Project of Detroit and previously served in key staff positions at the American Cancer Society – Great Lakes Division from 2001-2011, including Division Manager of Health Disparity Programs form 2006-2011.  Ms. Brown-Miller organizes and work directly with the Cancer Action Councils (CACs).

Knoll Larkin, MPH: Project Manager

Knoll Larkin is a Research Manager at Karmanos Cancer Institute with the program for Populations Studies and Disparities Research. Mr. Larkin has considerable experience in community-based participatory research and facilitating community-academic research partnerships.  He supervises the daily activities of the project and is the primary instructor for the research capacity curriculum.

Hayley S. Thompson, PhD: Project Lead

Dr. Thompson is an associate professor in Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Oncology and Program Leader for Population Studies & Disparities Research at Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI). She has extensive experience in community-based research and training community members as lay health advisors through several initiatives, including as Director of the Witness Project of Detroit, a breast and cervical cancer education and outreach program.

Tiffany Brent, MPH, JD: Project Co-Lead

Tiffany Brent is the Executive Director of Voices of Detroit Initiative (VODI), a nonprofit health care agency focused on ensuring access to quality health services for the uninsured. Ms. Brent leads Detroit HealthLink along with Dr. Thompson and brings her expertise in community coalition building as the head of a community-based non-profit organization that relies on organizational partnerships.

Cathryn Bock, PhD: Education Advisor

Dr. Cathryn Bock is an Associate Professor Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Oncology and a scientific member of Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI).  Dr. Bock is an epidemiologist with a research focus in prostate cancer. She also works closely with KCI’s Prostate Cancer Advocacy Program.
